Brad + Danielle in Napa

Flew up to San Francisco on Sunday for an engagement shoot with Danielle & Brad who will be getting married at 7 Degrees in Laguna Beach this October. They picked me up around noon and we were off on our all day adventure. Started out at the Golden Gate Bridge and one of my favorite shooting locations, the old fort at Fort Point.

We then headed north towards Napa in search of the wineries.

Most of the day was just driving down country roads until I yelled "turn around, I saw something I want to shoot". These next shots were in front of Stan the Hunter's garage.

I told Brad, "keep your eyes open for a big open field". Good choice Brad.

Ended the day at another of my favorite spots, north side of the Golden Gate.

OK, so I know these aren't your typical snugly engagement shots. Who cares! I like them and I wanted to give my clients something different. These were shot in an old abandoned building up on a hill overlooking the bay. Kinda had a creepy feel to it.

Erika + Jim = VROOOOOM!!!

This was a little wierd for me. I shot Erika & Jim's engagment session last night. Why wierd? Erika is my assistant and we have shot probably 100 weddings together over the last few years. I'm so used to her behind the camera. It took me a few shots to see her as a client and not my assistant. She did really great and Jim loosened up a bit too. We wanted to try something a little different so Jim brought his motorcycle and we just cruised around Terminal Island in Long Beach. terminal Island is where all the ships come into the Port of Long Beach. It's very industrial and I was just waiting for the FBI or Homeland Security to swoopp in on us. I guess people cruising around the back alleys of the worlds busiest port with cameras is no big deal. Anyway, I think the shots turned out great and I'm looking forward to the wedding next month out in the winerys of Temecula. Check out some of my favorites.

Howard + Anita

Another fun couple tonight. Winds finally died down so and we had a beautiful sunset down in Newport Beach. Howard loves to fish, so we headed to the pier with some of his gear. How could I not use the fisheye lens. Just seemed appropriate.

Uhmm, Howard? There is no line on those reels.

Nice eyes Anita.

I love these guys and can't wait to shoot the wedding. They were really fun and relaxed, which is so important for great pictures.

Took the new camera out for it's first real job today. Jerry & Jen were in town from North Carolina to finalize some details for their wedding later this summer. we were planning on going to the beach but 70mph winds are not good when you mix it with sand. We ended up at the jun zone in Newport Beach and just walked around and played for awhile.

One of my favorites.

Focus smocus. Who says it has to be sharp. And yes I like it all grainy too.
